Joe Skurkis
I am in Career 2.0 and loving every minute. I am a retired law enforcement officer passionate about all things aviation. Aviation has been a dream since childhood and I am finally able to fulfill that now. I am the main instructor and ferry pilot for Clear To Land Aviation. Getting to teach others to fly is something I very much enjoy. I am also learning aerobatics in my spare time and hope to someday add that to the school as an option for those who want to learn. I am also a member of NAFI and SAFE.

I was that kid at the airport fence who wouldn’t stop talking about planes… Now I get paid to do it for a living! I’m a commercial pilot, CFI/AGI/IGI, aircraft dispatcher, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-DB (‘23) graduate. I took my first flight lesson at 13, soloed at 16, got my private at 19, and became a flight instructor at 22. My flight experience spans 14+ makes and models of aircraft, including complex, high-performance, and tailwheel airplanes. I’m a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI)! When I’m not in the cockpit or classroom, you can find me volunteering with youth aviation immersion programs, planning my next Dungeons and Dragons campaign, or enjoying a good matcha latte.
